Analysis of data from the NHS.uk website for the past five years shows people have searched for more than 7,000 conditions and problems on December 25.

In 2017, as in previous five Christmas Days since 2013, pharmacies, fever and pregnancy were the three most searched terms, with flu and chicken pox completing the top five. But the most popular search was about getting help from a pharmacy.

Pharmacies, NHS England has realised, are open in most areas on Christmas Day to provide urgent advice and assistance for people whose symptoms are not serious enough to warrant a hospital visit or fill a much needed prescription.
