The General Pharmaceutical Council has announced that 2,748 exam candidates out of a total of 3,326 passed the June 2026 registration assessment, making for a pass rate of 83 per cent.

This marks an increase on last year’s pass rate, when 77 per cent of the 2,913 candidates sitting the June assessment passed. 

Announcing the results today (July 21), the GPhC said that 85 per cent of the 2,526 candidates who sat the exam for the first time passed, compared to 59 per cent of those sitting it a second time and 65 per cent of those for whom the June 16 assessment was their third and final attempt. 

Lynsey Cleland, chief standards officer at the regulator, said: “I’d like to congratulate all those trainee pharmacists who passed the assessment this summer.

“The assessment is a vital part of the journey to becoming a registered pharmacist, providing assurance that successful candidates can apply their knowledge appropriately and make professional judgements when practising.

“This year marks an important milestone, as it is the first assessment sat by trainee pharmacists whose education and training was based on the standards introduced in 2021. As with any significant change, we will continue to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the standards as further cohorts complete their education and training and take the assessment.

“I wish the successful trainee pharmacists all the best in their future careers and encourage those who were unsuccessful to explore the options and support that is available to them on our website.”
