LloydsPharmacy has opened its latest outpatient pharmacy at Royal United Hospital in Bath.
The pharmacy was officially reopened yesterday (August 1) at a special ribbon cutting event, which was attended by Alison Ryan, chair of Royal United Hospitals (RUH) Bath NHS Foundation Trust and Kevin Birch, chief retail officer at McKesson UK, parent company of LloydsPharmacy.
Kevin Birch commented: “We’re delighted to work in partnership with the RUH to provide patients with the best possible service and help to make a difference to their hospital experience. We understand that outpatients want to be able to collect their medicine from a welcoming, attractive pharmacy – and not have to wait too long. We hope that this new design will make things better for not only our patients, but also the team of colleagues working in there.”
As well as an improved environment, patients, RUH staff and visitors can also access a range of over-the-counter products, including pain medication, skincare products and toiletries.
RUH chief pharmacist Regina Brophy said: “We hope the new pharmacy provides a better and safer use of space for our patients. Visiting hospital can be a difficult time for many people, but by enhancing the services we provide, we can help improve that experience.”
The outpatient pharmacy at Royal United Hospital dispenses over 5,000 prescriptions each month. The hospital itself provides care for more than 500,000 outpatients a year. LloydsPharmacy now operates over 50 outpatient dispensaries across the country.
