Well Pharmacy donates $400k of medicines to Pakistan flood relief

Well Pharmacy bas donated $400,000 worth of medicines to support the relief effort in Pakistan following devastating recent flooding, parent company the Bestway Group has announced.

In a statement this afternoon, Bestway said it had raised $2.3m in funds that will be “deployed urgently on the ground in Pakistan” to support those affected by the recent flooding, which has displaced hundreds of thousands and led to almost 2,000 deaths.

The money has been pledged to build homes or shelters for 5,000 families, provide usable water for over 100,000 people and deliver food and medical supplies to more than 20,000 affected individuals.

As well as appealing for donations, Bestway held a fund-raising event in London on September 23 that was attended by Government officials and other MPs, as well as business figures and the Deputy State Bank of Pakistan.

Attending the event, lord chancellor Brandon Lewis said the Government has committed funds of £16.5m for Pakistan, as well as its wider work on addressing climate change.

Bestway chief financial officer Haider Choudrey said this was a “perfect example of a British government helping the people of Pakistan in their hour of need”.
