LillyDirect, the home delivery scheme that sees Mounjaro manufacturer Eli Lilly partner with BlueCo and Pharmacy2U, has extended eligibility to include “a broader range of healthcare companies”.

Having been available since June to clinics that do not operate a pharmacy regulated by the General Pharmaceutical Council or Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland, the scheme is now available to UK pharmacies that run private weight management services and are regulated by the GPhC or PSNI. 

Khalil Asmar, vice president of the cardiometabolic health division at Lilly UK & Northern Europe, said: “We are pleased to be able to extend eligibility for LillyDirect in the UK, as part of our phased approach to ensure that we can successfully scale the service.

“The aim of LillyDirect is to offer a new option for private UK regulated healthcare companies to support their patients with dispensing and delivery of Lilly medication.”

Lilly claims the scheme will help protect against illegal and counterfeit GLP-1 products entering the supply chain and reaching patients.

The initiative sees private Mounjaro prescriptions – other medicines may be added to the scheme pending an evaluation by Lilly – sent to dispensing partners BlueCo and Pharmacy2U and the medicines sent to patients “in discreet packaging”.
