Tesco cough and cold batches recalled by MHRA

Tesco Max All-In-One Chesty Cough & Cold Lemon Sachets have been recalled by the UK medicines regulator after the labelling on some batches was found to contain inaccurate information.

The labels on around 78,000 packs from three batches of the product incorrectly said they can be taken by children aged 12 and over, when in fact they are meant to be taken by people aged 16 and over.

Tesco said it had taken the product off its shelves until the labelling information can be updated. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, which issued the recall, said the affected batches are 9MW0145, 0CW0054 and 0FW0133. The MHRA urged anyone with one of these batches to stop using it immediately and return it to Tesco for a refund.

“We would like to reassure patients and parents that if you or someone under the age of 16 have used recently these sachets and have suffered no ill-effects there is no cause for concern,” said MHRA chief safety officer Dr Alison Cave.

“If anyone has any questions please speak to your healthcare professional and report any adverse reactions via the?Yellow Card scheme.

“This product is specifically branded as Tesco Max All-In-One Chesty Cough & Cold Lemon Sachets and the recall does not affect any other products that share the same product licence number but are distributed by other retail stores.”
