The number of yellow card reports from community pharmacists regarding suspected adverse drug reactions fell by 14 per cent between 2017 and 2018.

According to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), there were 226 fewer reports by community pharmacists last year than in the previous 12 months. A decrease in reporting was also observed in other healthcare professionals, with 280 and 161 fewer reports from GPs and hospital doctors respectively during that period.

This year-on-year drop was in spite of the MHRA receiving double the number of reports from healthcare professionals in 2017 compared with 2009.
