The cost of NHS prescriptions in England is to be frozen for the first time in over a decade. 

Charges will remain at £9.35 per item or £30.25 for a three-month prescription prepayment certificate rather than increasing in line with inflation in order to help ease cost of living pressures, says the Department of Health and Social Care.

The move should save an estimated £17m for patients in England paying the levy, the DHSC adds.
