Flu and Covid-19 cases are increasing across England, according to the latest UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) surveillance report – the first of the 2025/26 season.
Flu activity rose to baseline levels, with positivity rates climbing to 3.3 per cent from 1.9 per cent the previous week, particularly among young adults. GP consultations for influenza-like illness also increased to 4.2 per 100,000.
Covid-19 is circulating at medium levels, with hospital positivity up to 12.9 per cent and hospitalisations rising to 4.65 per 100,000. The highest admission rate was among those aged 85 years and over. RSV activity remains at baseline levels.
UKHSA is urging people to take simple precautions and follow vaccination and hygiene advice as respiratory viruses continue to spread.
