Rowlands Pharmacy is piloting a weight management service in 100 of its branches as it launches a new diet awareness campaign.
The company’s service offers customers advice on setting and achieving weight loss goals through making lifestyle changes and through products such as prescription medications or the £45-per-week meal replacement programme Lipotrim.
Research carried out by Rowlands found that a third of UK adults don’t feel confident enough to approach a healthcare professional with concerns about their weight.
The company has teamed up with TV medic Dr Dawn Harper to promote pharmacies as a first port of call for weight management queries and the Go #fadfree campaign which “challenges the stereotypical defaults and attitudes to weight management”.
Rowlands managing director Nigel Swift said: “One of the biggest challenges facing many adults looking to address any weight concerns is knowing where and how to start. Our new weight management service is designed to help all those setting out on a new weight loss journey but also those who have struggled to find a plan that works for them.
“Our pharmacy teams offer comprehensive healthcare advice and a variety of weight management products with a friendly approach that naturally puts customers at ease, and we’re looking forward to welcoming all those looking to take their first step with us.”
