The holding company for a Scottish pharmacy chain with 18 branches listed on its website has entered administration three years after it was first incorporated.
Amiry & Gilbride Healthcare Limited, the holding company for LP North 14 Limited and LP North 15 Limited, entered administration on April 29 according to a Companies House filing.
The administrators are James Stephen, Kerry Bailey and David Wallis of accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP.
Amiry & Gilbride operates 18 pharmacies – including three non-NHS private pharmacies – in the Glasgow, Paisley, Lanarkshire and Highlands regions. It promotes services on its website including prescription locker collections and a free medicine pouching service.
Published last August, the chain’s accounts for the 12 months to July 31, 2024 show it made a £2.2m loss on a turnover of £13.4m.
The company, which is headquartered on York Street in Glasgow, was first incorporated in February 2023 following the merger “of two established multiple pharmacy operators” according to the 2023-24 financial report.
The report adds that the business “was specifically established to acquire pharmacy assets released during the divestment and break-up of one of the UK’s largest pharmacy operators,” suggesting that several Amiry & Gilbride stores were previously operated by LloydsPharmacy.
Its directors are pharmacists John Gilbride and Sara and Mahyar Nickkho-Amiry as well as a Dr Audrey Gilbride.
BDO said: "Neither of the subsidiaries have been placed into administration and these entities are continuing to trade the pharmacies as normal.
"The joint administrators have established a new governance structure for the subsidiaries which will now operate under the direction of John Gilbride and his experienced team.
"The joint administrators will work with John and his team to gain a clear understanding of the financial position of the AGH group. Once complete they will then look to sell the group via a marketing process.
"Interested parties are encouraged to make contact with the joint administrators without delay."
