PSNC urges contractors to complete health data survey

The PSNC has urged pharmacy teams and LPCs to complete an NHS survey on the use of health data and community pharmacy’s access to electronic patient records.

In its response to the survey, which closes on August 20, the PSNC said processes around shared care records should be standardised, information governance protocols “should not be excessive for pharmacy staff” when accessing records and integrated care systems must engage with LPCs and contractors to facilitate access to shared records.

The PSNC also said pharmacists should have read and write access to shared records and access to summary care records.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health and Social Care has extended the serious shortage protocol for fluoxetine 10mg tablets.

The SSP was due to expire on Friday but the antidepressant medicine will now be available until November 12.
